Peanut almond butter spread

Not long ago, someone gave me a bag full of roasted peanuts. i wasn't sure what to do with it until my

cravings for peanut butter banana smoothie kicked in me. so, i googled around and finally found this

super quick recipe for peanut butter spread.

....

I tweaked the recipe a bit by adding some almonds and used canola oil instead of the vegetable oil. it

turned out amazing. so rich and decadent! i'm thinking of adding cocoa powder next time!

Roasted brussel sprouts spaghetti

it's not common to find brussel sprouts at my local supermarket, i guess it's my lucky day! i roasted brussel sprouts in the oven for only ten minutes with olive oil, salt and pepper. i peeled the leaves because i want them to be super crispy when they come out from the oven!

while waiting for the brussel sprouts, i made the sauce for the pasta by roasting crushed garlics with olive oil and tiny bits of chilli. i love adding lots of anchovies in my spaghetti for an extra flavour. once the spaghetti was cooked, i threw it in the pan and started mixing them up then seasoned with salt and pepper.

i like to mix in brussel sprouts at the last minute so that it stays crispy :)

Bon appétit!

I ♥ Pastries

I have a confession to make. I have a love fest with french bread and pastry.

I don't know why there are so many wonderful bread shops in Japan.

It's tempting not to try some especially when Gontran Cherrier opens at Shinjuku recently.

I immediately love their croissant and pain au chocolat. Who can resist such a buttery pastries?

Japanese style spaghetti

Nope, this is not a Yakisoba (though it may look like it!), but it is a Japanese style spaghetti I made over the weekend.

I once had a similar dish at a local Japanese restaurant and I thought, why not try making this at home?

For an extra kick, I added anchovy paste, but it is an optional :)

Ingredients: for 2 serving

200 grams of spaghetti
1 garlic cloves, crush
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
king oyster mushroom, cut into bize size pieces.
shitake mushroom, cut into bize size pieces.
broccoli
seaweed (for garnish)
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon mirin
1 tablespoon sake
1 teaspoon anchovy paste (optional)
2-3 tablespoons pasta water

Directions:

While cooking the spaghetti, heat oil and butter into the pan. Add garlic, anchovy paste, mushroom, broccoli and pasta water.

Add cooked spaghetti into the pan. Season with soy sauce, mirin and sake. Mix spaghetti thoroughly.

Divide between plates, garnish with seaweed.  Enjoy!
