Sorry for being away from blogging for a whole month! I blame the good summer weather

for being so bright and warm that I wanted to stay indoors as little as possible!

If you're my instagram follower, you might have noticed that I'm having a small show case this month

in Shibuya, Tokyo at Shibuya book publishing. If you are in Tokyo in October or around the

neighbourhood, why not drop by for fun? The bookstore is also a very cool place to visit!

Freelance life

I have been admiring Satsuki Shibuya's works and followed her blog for quite sometime now.

I don’t know why it took me so long to discover her video seminar, here, in 2013.

As a freelancer, I found her lecture so helpful in focusing on what I need to do on a daily basis

and where I should invest my energy into. I hope you find the video helpful as much as I did :)

花火 / Hanabi

Last Saturday, I got some tickets to see a fireworks show in Itabashi.

It was my very first official hanabi show in Japan as I usually take-a-peek at them through my windows!

Although the weather was brutally hot and the train was all packed like this (not joking!),

I really did enjoy the show and summer street food! Hope you love the photos, my favorite is the second photo.

I think it looks more like the universe than fireworks :)

Concrete projects

Remember my last post about DIY concrete stool? Since I have some left over concrete mix from the last project,

I'm wondering what to do next with the concrete? I found these interesting concrete projects all over the internet.

Concrete coffee table sounds like a good idea!

DIY: Concrete side table

You may have seen this DIY concrete stool everywhere on internet, guess what? I finally gave in and give it a try too!

If you follow the link here , you can find that the video instruction is pretty easy to follow.

I used a smaller bucket size than what it was being used in the video,

so I simply used 2 kg of concrete mix with approximately 2 cups of water.

...

I found that once you pour the water into the concrete mix, it will become pretty dense and a little difficult to mix,

so I used a small gardening shovel to make sure everything is all mixed.

Oh, and I suggest making a small hole in the middle of the mound, and then add the water into the

hole (as if you were making bread) it will make mixing so much easier!

...

The fun part is that once you get the water and concrete ratio just right,

the texture will be very much gelato-like, so easy to sculpt (I hope it makes sense!) and shiny.

...

That’s it for now. I hope my tips are somewhat helpful!

I love the sloped roof of this modern Japanese home designed by Studio Velocity back in 2009.

Aromatherapy blends, V.1

As summer season drew closer,  I often day dream about my last trip to Thailand. The spa, the

massage and not to mention the beach!

I love to diffuse some essential oil blends while working or while relaxing at home. I found it helps

lift up my mood and spirit instantly. There are many ways to enjoy aromatherapy, I often use an

essential oil diffuser or a ceramic oil burner. They make my entire house smells wonderful, like a

quick trip to Thailand!

Here are some essential oil recipes I came up with.

...

Thai spa

1 drop of lemongrass essential oil

2 drops of lavender essential oil

...

Beach bungalow

1 drop of sandalwood essential oil

1 drop of peppermint essential oil

1 drop of lavender essential oil

I hope you enjoy this post and the recipes!
